After the first report in the early ‘80s, every news channel, radio station and newspaper wouldn’t stop talking about it… it was something called “Aids”. During the 1980s, the public were inundated with information about it. Aids this, Aids that… Aids spread across the globe almost like a virus.
It’s easy to admit now, but yes, there were too many Aids in the ‘80s; there was Band Aid, Live Aid, Farm Aid, Self Aid, Hear ‘N Aid, Ferry Aid and Sport Aid. Aids were widespread, there seemed to be no end to them, but thankfully, they lessened over the years that followed. There was something called NetAid in the late ‘90s but it didn’t take hold. We as a society left Aids behind in the 20th Century.
The public should be grateful that Aids is no longer a constant worry. Maybe people should organise a concert to celebrate… or maybe not.
